Fridolina Rolfö is not just a forward. She is a goal machine. The Barcelona forward has been one of the most prolific players in the Catalan club’s dominant performance in recent years, winning a continental treble in her first season and scoring goals with both feet. She is widely regarded as one of the best forwards in the world, and one of the most clinical players in the game.
Born in Kungsbacka, Sweden, Fridolina Rolfö started playing football at a young age, inspired by her father and brother. She joined Kungsbacka BI, where she played with boys until she was 14. She then moved to Jitex BK, where she made her senior debut at 15, and scored 10 goals in 18 appearances.
In 2012, she signed for Linköping FC, where she spent five years. She quickly established herself as a key player for the team, playing as a forward who can also operate on the wings or as an attacking midfielder. She is known for her power, pace, dribbling, finishing, and versatility. She has scored 42 goals in 84 appearances for Linköping FC, making her one of the most prolific forwards in the club’s history.
With Linköping FC, she won the Damallsvenskan in 2016 and 2017; the Svenska Cupen twice; and the Svenska Supercupen once. She also played for Linköping FC in the Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals in 2017.
In 2017, she signed for Wolfsburg, where she spent four years. She continued to score goals for the German club, despite suffering from injuries and competition for places. She has scored 21 goals in 59 appearances for Wolfsburg, making her one of the most consistent forwards in the club’s history.
With Wolfsburg, she won the Frauen-Bundesliga three times; the DFB-Pokal three times; and reached two Champions League finals, but lost to Lyon and Barcelona.
In 2021, she signed for Barcelona, where she has been ever since. She adapted quickly to Barcelona’s style of play, and became a regular starter for the team. She plays as a forward who can also operate on the wings or as a second striker. She is known for her vision, creativity, passing, dribbling, finishing, and work rate. She has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for Barcelona, making her one of the most influential forwards in the club’s history.
With Barcelona, she won a continental treble in her first season, winning the league, the cup, and the Champions League. She scored four goals in that Champions League campaign, helping Barcelona beat Wolfsburg 3-2 in the final. She also scored six goals in the league, helping Barcelona clinch their seventh consecutive league title.
On the international stage, Fridolina Rolfö has been a regular for Sweden since 2014, earning 72 caps and scoring 19 goals. She has played in three major tournaments with Sweden: the 2015 and 2019 World Cups; and the 2017 Euro. She has also represented Sweden at the Olympics twice: winning silver in 2016; and gold in 2021.
