Bruna Vilamala is not just a forward. She is a natural talent. She is widely regarded as one of the best young forwards in the world, and one of the most instinctive players in the game.
Born in Borgonyà, Spain, Bruna Vilamala started playing football at a young age, inspired by her father and brother. She joined San José’s academy, where she played with boys until she was 14. She then moved to Barcelona’s youth team in 2014, where she developed her talent and technique.
She made her senior debut for Barcelona in January 2020, at the age of just 17, becoming the fourth youngest player to have ever played for a senior Barça team in an official match. She quickly established herself as a key player for the team, playing as a forward who can also operate on the wings or as an attacking midfielder. She is known for her power, pace, dribbling, finishing, and versatility. She has scored 19 goals in 50 appearances for Barcelona, making her one of the most prolific forwards in the club’s history.
With Barcelona, she won a continental treble in her first season, winning the league, the cup, and the Champions League. She scored four goals in that Champions League campaign, helping Barcelona beat Chelsea 4-0 in the final. She also scored six goals in the league, helping Barcelona clinch their sixth consecutive league title.
She repeated the feat in 2022–23, when Barcelona staged a remarkable comeback to beat Wolfsburg 3-2 in the Champions League final and retain their crown. She scored two goals in that final, including the equalizer and an assist for the winner. She also scored eight goals in the league, helping Barcelona clinch their seventh consecutive league title.
On the international stage, Bruna Vilamala has been a regular for Spain since 2018, earning six caps and scoring no goals. She has played in one major tournament with Spain: the 2021 Euro. She has also had success with Spain’s U-17 and U-19 youth categories. She has won two UEFA Youth Championships – one each with Spain’s U-17s and U-19s – and has been runner-up in two FIFA Youth Women’s World Cups – one each with Spain’s U-17s and U-19s.
